Generative AI (GenAI) is a variant of machine-learning technology in which the "provide input data and obtain an output" (typically a yes/no-answer or a classification label) based on patterns inferred from training data is in a sense reversed: the training is largely similar, but instead of providing the train model with inputs in the same format as the training data, the model is consulted to create "artificial inputs" that reproduce some properties (encoded often through terms arising from NLP) that are given as a prompt to the model.
This module will help you do the following:
Pick at least one of the following textbooks to browse before the in-class discussion:
Based on the textbook(s) you browsed, try to put in (your own) words what is the key difference between (traditional) AI and generative AI; elaborate in particular why do you think that the latter is causing such commotion in society as of late, whereas the former does not attract as much attention.
After this module, you should be familiar with the following concepts:
Remember that you can always look concepts up in the glossary. Should anything be missing or insufficient, please report it.
